The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is situated around 9 miles away from Central London. Barking and Dagenham was one of the six London Boroughs to host the London 2012 Summer Olympics. The Borough a population of almost 211,000 people, with almost 58,000 of those people being under 16. The Borough was formed in 1965. This joined Barking and Dagenham together, to create one larger Borough, which brought many benefits to be people living within both. By merging the boroughs, they would have been able to put finances together and improve things, like infrastructure, schooling and healthcare. Although the change came in, in 1965, the didn’t change the name from the London Borough of Barking until 1980, when it was renamed the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
The borough has a total of 6 train and or tube stations. This means getting around is easy and there are many links available to get around inside and outside of London. Buses are also a great way of getting around and again, have links to get you where you need to be inside or outside of London.
