The London Borough of Waltham Forest was formed in 1965, which saw a merger take place of three boroughs – Leyton, Walthamstow and Chingford. The borough is situated within East London. Waltham Forest was one of the six London Boroughs to host the London summer Olympics in 2012. The Borough also played host to some of the events in the Paralympic games that year too.

In World War One, the Borough had multiple bombing attacks from the Germans. This is believed to have happened because of confusion that lead from the River Lea and them thinking that it was the River Thames. This led them to believe that they were actually dropping bombs in the centre of London.

Transport in the Borough is well established and runs frequently. The Borough is served by the central line, which runs directly into the centre of London, or if travelling in the other direction, it takes you to Epping underground station (the end of the central line). Buses also operate frequently and the Borough has good road links too.
